Better to look at the Glock collapsable shovel, which is lighter, larger, and has a pretty decent saw concealed within the handle. When out backpacking, size is less important than weight and functionality, so I strap the Glock to the back of my pack and get a better tool for less weight. Can you please describe a scenario in a normal backpacking trip where you will need a shovel, or even a saw? This isn't the 1950's, woodcraft is dead and you don't need to be digging a trench around a tent.
