  1. U2 Dan Said,

I used DE in my home becuase of bedbugs. It has been about a month and i havent seen one since. I reccommend food grade DE as a safer non-toxic pesticide. In the home, left undisturbed it should work for months, I have never used this outside.

I reccommend buying a specific pump to be used with DE and also a face mask for application.

If you have bedbugs, first get treated by a professional and then use DE as a preventative. Ask how to apply for maximum effectiveness (yes this works if done correctly). Also visit bedbug websites to learn more.

  2. M. Cowles Said,

My back yard is bordered by some very dense shrubbery and brush, which is a fertile breeding ground for creepy crawlies. With this stuff I’m able to create a cordon which keeps the bugs out of the yard and away from the house. As others have noted, you do have to replace it when it rains. I don’t see this as a huge problem, however, as it really goes a long way. I estimate I can probably get a couple of dozen treatments from the one bag. A good product, especially if you have pets or small children and don’t want to expose them to dangerous poisons.

  3. S. Snedeker Said,

Works great. I used it around the perimeter of the house as part of a two step method to rid my home of sugar ants that invade every spring. First tier was a boric acid & sugar solution put into baby food jars. I’m happy to say we no longer have an ant problem and it was a huge relief to find a safe, eco-friendly and effective product for the outside of my home.

Not a bad product, but, as with any powder washes away when it rains. On the plus side It temporarily rids the yard of fleas & ticks without poisoning the pets.

I used DE years ago with a carpeted house successfully to get rid of fleas. We have mostly hardwood now, and even wearing a mask and goggles, this stuff went everywhere when I vacuumed (even the carpet). The entire house is now under a white layer. My lungs are killing me and I was up all night with poison control because the pain and lack of oxygen from exposure was so severe I thought I might die. I would not recommend using in houses with wood floors, without professional respirators, or in houses with children as their stuff is entirely coated unless you bag it all up first. We have vacuumed extensively and mopped 3 times in less than 12 hours with various things-Mrs. Meyers, water, vinegar & water mix to remove it and it will not get off the floors at all. It looks like a cornstarch factory exploded. This has been such a huge ordeal for us to clean the DE mess up, I will never use it again.
