Question by erica_bischoff: is it ok to declaire a major even if you are not sure that is what you want to do?
I am entering my junior year and the college I am attending has a limited amount of majors, so my options are limited. But I am interested in a variety of things that are not offered at my college. I love working with animals, although I would not want to be a vet. I would just want to work with animals. I also love to travel, although I rarely get the chance and have never been on a plane. I also enjoy thinking about something to write, and then when I think of something good being able to write it. My college does not have any majors related to animals, agriculture, or travel, so I decided to choose print journalism as my major. But I feel like I only chose that because nothing else was available. Like if I had the opportunity to work with animals, agriculture, e.t.c., I keep thinking I might enjoy that more. So is it ok that I chose communications even though I might enjoy something else more? Because I still might end up with a different job than what my major is anyway.

Yes. Decide what things you want to do and narrow them down to what you want to do the most. If you change your mind you can always go back and change your major. Just don’t change it a lot.

why dont to you to some other college that offers majors of u r choice .
the other opton is to ask u r university chancellor to make it possible to design u r own majors
bcoz u should enjoy what u r doing and learning .

if your entering your junior year check and see if you qualify for your AS aka Associates….if you do why don’t you transfer to another school that has your major that you want? but anyway…most people don’t work in the field that they got their major in…

trust me, whatever you declare most of the time you won’t like it after a while
so declare whatever you think is good
cause most jobs don’t care about what you majored in
unless it’s for some government job that specifies you to major in something
so go right ahead and declare something
you can always have a double major if you change your mind

It’s okay for now but I suggest you do some research and transfer to a college that is closer to your interests.
