I suggest you please do not go out by foot in night time from hotel which you wanna stay in China Town, both places are high risk and if you wanna make business i will help you find business partners.

Cheers

  1. Tainruadh Said,

I would recommend that you stay at the Hotel Cemara, Jalan Cemara No. 1, right in the heart of Jakarta. Its as good as an Ibis, a bit cheaper, and the area it is in is nearby many good restaurants and department stores. Its a very safe area too as its by Menteng which is a very wealthy area where there are also many Chinese. Its also close to Jalan Jaksa which is the backpacker area so good services for tourists.

Take Bluebird taxi to get around, at Hotel Cemara you can ask for Mas (Mr) Danie who often parks his taxi nearby and is a very reliable Bluebird driver who will wait for you (don’t forget to give him a nice tip). Taxis are really cheap and you are already in the city so nowhere will cost very much.

You don’t really need a guide. Manggadua does have a few Chinese but there are 3.5 million Chinese in Jakarta and they live everywhere. Most of the business you are looking for will be in the industrial estates (Kawasan Industri) near the airport or the port or at Tangerang or Bekasi.

    Use Google Maps

    Good Luck

Hotel Ibis Mangga Dua or Hotel Novotel at Mangga Dua Square is the right choice if to look for sundry foods stores. Both hotels are situated in the in the mall and there are several malls in walk distance. Dining or walking nearby at night is safe enough, but not too late though and there are plenty’s of restaurants nearby especially Indonesian and Chinese delicacies.
