Review by Tim Henry for Storey’s Guide to Raising Sheep: 4th Edition

My copy of the original book Raising Sheep The Modern Way by Paula Simmons is in my barn and worn out from years of use. I purchased the expanded updated edition by Carol Ekarius. Storey’s Guide has a lot of good info including good coverate of rare sheep breeds. The information about types of herding dogs being divided into three general types: gathering dogs, tending dogs and driving dogs is not entirely accurate. I was disappointed, but recommend it for everything you need to know about sheep care.

This book is long, so I am still working through it. I am learning a lot and I would recommend this as a general information book about sheep.
