Question by beauncj: Is there any thought to the farmers, ranchers and people who live out in the far country? There are those who choose to live in out going communities, some populated in the 400 to 500. We choose this for benefit of family, wanting to give back to world by raising livestock, wheat grains, etc. These products serve the people in large cities. There are those that do not know how their cereal is produced, where the milk really comes from or how that T-bone steak got on their plate, along with vegetable, etc. Yet fuel prices sky rocketing is making it impossible for these products to be produced. We need our pick up trucks, tractors, swathers, etc. in order to produce our products. Again the price of oil, gas, deisel is choking us out of business. What about the semi trucks that haul, food, clothing, medicines, and products to numerous to mention across the country to keep the city dwellers in these products. I do not feel it is at all necessary to keep jacking the…. Click here to Read More

The Agricultural Revolution in Prehistory: Why did Foragers become Farmers? The Agricultural Revolution in Prehistory addresses one of the most debated and least understood revolutions in the history of our species, the change from hunting and gathering to farming. Graeme Barker takes a global view, and integrates a massive array of information from archaeology and many other disciplines, including anthropology, botany, climatology, genetics, linguistics, and zoology. Against current orthodoxy, Barker develops a strong case for the development of agricultural systems in many areas as transformations in the life-ways of the indigenous forager societies, and argues that these were as much changes in social norms and ideologies as in ways of obtaining food. With a large number of helpful line drawings and photographs as well as a comprehensive bibliography, this authoritative study will appeal to a wide general readership as well as to specialists in a variety of…. Question by NONAME: Why do taxpayers have to subsidize farmers? Farms should be no different than any other business. I realize there are certain risks involved, such as the weather and crop prices, but ALL businesses face risks. If I buy a 7-11 and don’t sell as many Slurpees as I thought I would, will the feds send me a check to make up the difference? If not, why am I treated differently than a farmer? Please spare me the tired rhetoric about “Farmers grow the food that feeds you, so we have to protect them”. The majority of our foodstuffs are provided by large industrialized farms, not Ma and Pa from down on the family farm. cactus: BS! Large agribusinesses would MORE than make up for the loss of small farms. Best answer: Answer by VinnieJESUS! What do you think? Answer…. Click here to Read More
